Ed ecco le immagini in luce bianca. Diversamente dal quelle in HA, queste sono con una focale molto maggiore (4.5m).

2012_10_16_152/900_HA_WL_Test

October 16, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

Newton_Solare

September 28, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

E così l’ho trasformato in un Newton solare (luce bianca). Ecco come è diventato ora:   Ho iniziato a […]

2012_08_01_WL

August 1, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

2012_06_27_WL

June 27, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

And here are the white light images. I decided to take a picture for each of the 3 new ARs the developed in the last few days. Not great images in my opinion but good considering the seeing. They have been taken with the Celestron Omni 120/1000 (focal length 3500mm) + Herschel wedge + Baader Continuum + Baader Neodymium + DMK41.

2012_06_19_ISS_Transit_Over_The_Sun

June 19, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

Today I tried a very special image: the transit of the ISS over the Sun. I’ve been thinking about imaging that transit since I’ve seen what Thierry Legault has done for the Venus transit: a double transit of Venus and Hubble telescope. He went to Australia to catch that special image. I can’t move to Australia. Not for an image like that and not now. So I wanted to try taking something “similar” by calculating when the ISS over the Sun […]

2012_06_18_AR11504_WL

June 18, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

Today I just had the time to take a close up of AR11504 in white light… for now. Maybe later I’ll do something more. Setup is Celestron Omni XLT 120 + DMK41 + Baader Continuum and Baader Neodymium filters. Focal lenth around 3500mm.

2012_06_17_AR11504_WL

June 17, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

Today I decided to focus on AR11504. Well not difficult as it’s the only “interesting” area in a incredibly quiet (condidering that we are about 6 months from the cycle maximum) Sun. I decided to use the Celestron Omni 120 XLT to try to take some image with a high focal length. Here’s the white light one: I’m quite satisfied of this image. Details are good and processing is also good. I always find some difficulties in balancing the processing […]

2012_06_13_Triplet_Test

June 13, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

I got a new refractor to test. A 90/600 triplet. It is a very solid but compact refractor that in my intention should be used an all-round telescope. I tested immediately with white light and Cak full disks. Here are the results: Thanks to the lower focal length it only takes me two images to have a full disk. I also tried a closeup using the barlow 2.25 (always both in CaK and white light): And finally I tried with […]

Astronomy_Filters_Spectra

April 16, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

The following are the first series of spectra I took with my DIY USB Sprectroscope. First here’s the lamp I’m using as a source of light for the spectrum: Definetly not a “True Light” but not that bad 🙂 That has to be taken into account. The peak you see at 825,0 nm is nothing less than the end of the image so not related to the spectrum. I have to find a way to avoid that 🙂 I have a […]

Testing_Old_And_New_Things

April 12, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

Today I’ve been able to test a few things that were left behind. The Sun showed during all the morning but it was difficult to have even just 1 minute free from clouds. Strong wind created problems taking clouds all around the sky and also making the tubes quite “unstable”. Anyway I’ve been able to do a quick comparison between the Coronado BF5 and the Lunt BF12. Results are not as I wanted them to be. It seems like the […]

…and here are the white light ones: I made a lot of tests with old and new filters. I’ll probably write a post on filters only as I’ve found something interesting both for White Light and H-Alpha. Hardware: Celestron Omni 120 XLT + DMK41 + Barlow x2.25 or Powermate x5

From_February_2_March

March 6, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

February has been an incredibe month for my solar imaging “evolution” under every aspect: technical, processing and post-processing and knowledge. By a technical point of view I passed from a simple single stack Coronado PST, to a stage 1 Coronado PST mod by using a Vixen A80M stacked to PST’s blackbox, to a stage PST mod by using only the etalon and the BF5 from the original PST on the Vixen refractor. On the processing/post-processing side I discovered AutoStakkert2! and […]

2012_02_22_WL

February 22, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

Unfortunately I had to stop imaging and came back to only after lunch. The sky was clear but the wind was stronger than in the morning and the images I’ve been able to take are blurry. Here’s the image of 11422 for today: One good thing… I’ve been able to put on “good” (?) use the Baader Continuum filter. I tried it before but results were poor. Finally I’ve found that it need an IR-Cut filter in front to work […]

2012_02_21_11422_Reprocessed

February 22, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

A friend at “Solarchat” suggested to reprocess the white lite image by using less smart sharpen and a more smoothed greyscale. I did it and here’s the result: This is much better then the previous version. I used the same AutoStakkert2! output file, simply reprocessed in Photoshop. I still have to find a good consistent way to process white light images, but I’m on the way to find it. White light is relatively new to me and so it is […]

2012_02_21_WL

February 21, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

As anticipated in my previous post, yesterday I received the Celestron Omni 120 XLT refractor. Is a solid 120/1000 refractor (f8.3) that I mounted in parallel with the Vixen A80M. Yesterday I wasn’t able to test it because it was a rainy day but today I spent most of the time imaging with it. Unfortunately there’s not much to image in white light and the only really interesting sunspot group is 1422. I also imaged the small 1420. For both […]

2012_02_14

February 14, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

Today I focused on white light as tomorrow I should have the D-ERF so I guess that for a few days I’ll focus on H-Alpha 😉 The seeing was good today so I wanted to give a try to the Powermate x5. I also made a couple with the Baader x2.25 barlow. Here they are: The setup is always the same… for now. At least until I’ll receive the Celestron Omni XLT 120 that is about to arrive in the next […]

2012_02_09_WL

February 9, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

This is the only white light image I took and it is not that good. Sunspot 1416 is just starting growing. Seeing is bad and that’s the result. Despite of the new iterative smart sharpen technique the image is not as good as I wanted. But again… after more than one week of nothing is gold 😀 Hardware: Vixen A80M + Herschel wedge + DMK41
