Deep_Sky_Setup

September 5, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

2012_07_19_Animated_GIF

July 20, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

Finally I’ve been able to convert the video to animated GIF. Despite the colour reduction (max 256 colors) results are very good in my opinion. I used VisualDub that easily and fastly converts videos into animated GIFs. Here are the 3 animated GIFs for videos from yesterday loop (CLICK ON THE IMAGE TO SEE THE ANIMATED VERSION):

VLF_Server

May 14, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

I decided to setup a dedicated mini server to VLF monitoring. I purchased a cheap USB Sound card to extend the number of possible Audio inputs. The mini server (an EEEPC) now has two MIC and one LINE inputs so that I should be able to use up to 3 antennae with it. The setup process should take a couple of days as I already have two antennae (a Mini Whip and a Loop antenna). I just subscribed to Blitzortung.org […]

From_February_2_March

March 6, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

February has been an incredibe month for my solar imaging “evolution” under every aspect: technical, processing and post-processing and knowledge. By a technical point of view I passed from a simple single stack Coronado PST, to a stage 1 Coronado PST mod by using a Vixen A80M stacked to PST’s blackbox, to a stage PST mod by using only the etalon and the BF5 from the original PST on the Vixen refractor. On the processing/post-processing side I discovered AutoStakkert2! and […]

PixInsight Reprocessing

February 19, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

After reading a little about PixInsight I decided to buy it for part of the post-processing. In particular I was interested to the “DynamicBackgroundExtraction” and to the “Deconvolution” functions. The first (DBE) is used to remove the gradient from the images. It creates a synthetic “flat field” from the image and the use it to remove the gradient. It works pretty well and easy to use with the “AutomaticBackgroundExtraction” function. The second is “Deconvolution”. Well this is a short of advanced sharpening […]
