2012_01_03_Quadrantidi

January 4, 2013 by Andrea IU4APC

2012_12_10_NOAA

December 10, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

2012_12_09_NOAA

December 9, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

Devo reinstallare tutto e tornare almeno a Windows 7.

VLF_Server

May 14, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

I decided to setup a dedicated mini server to VLF monitoring. I purchased a cheap USB Sound card to extend the number of possible Audio inputs. The mini server (an EEEPC) now has two MIC and one LINE inputs so that I should be able to use up to 3 antennae with it. The setup process should take a couple of days as I already have two antennae (a Mini Whip and a Loop antenna). I just subscribed to Blitzortung.org […]

Mini_Whip_Antenna

May 8, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

Today I got the Mini Whip antenna from eBay. It’s even smaller than expected. Here’s a picture of it showing a size comparison: I had to stop the SID monitoring to update the setup. Tomorrow everything should be back to normal.

SID_Real_Time_Monitoring_Page

May 6, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

I just created a page with my SID Monitor plotter chart (last 14 hours). I also added the spectrum screenshot (last 9 minutes) for those interested in the “quality” of my location 😀 The link is: https://observingthesun.com/sid-monitoring/ But you can also find the link on top of the home page. For now you’ll see two lines: a green one and a blue one. Those are the only two VLF Stations I’m able to get with the actual setup. The strongest one […]

VLF_SID_Monitoring_First_Tests

May 3, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

Well, it seems that I’m starting to have some very first results for SID monitoring using VLF. The basic idea is very simple (and so the setup for now). There are a few VLF stations around the world. Usually they are military stations as VLF is used also for sending messages to submarines. In any case what I do is monitor one (or more) signals of those stations and check how the power level of those transmissions changes. Sudden changes […]

Radio_Band_Projects

April 29, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

(Un)Fortunately work is keeping me busy so I can’t do any serious imaging. I think it’ll take still a few days/weeks before things calm down. I’m developing new things and I need to keep my mind focused. But as usual I’m not that good in that so I started studying how new “ways” for solar observation. Radio waves will be the next step and I’m already working on two simple projects that working on SHF (Super High Frequencies) and VLF […]
