This is an image (in colour and black and white) of the 1408 sunspot taken the 27/01/12 but processed later. For post processing I used a “new” technique named “Iterative Smart Sharpen” that helps in getting better details and skips the wavelet processing. You can see the details inside and around the sunspot and the granulation quality. Hardware: Vixen A80M + Herschel wedge + DMK41

White light with Vixen A80M and Herschel wedge again. Good faculae and granulation details. I also tried a sunspot close up with the Powermate x5. Hardware: Vixen A80M + Herschel Wedge + DMK41

More tests with the Vixen A80M. But this time I used an home made Herschel wedge. With it you can skip using the Astrosolar filter, as the prism reflects “only” 5% of the light of the Sun. Even just 5%, it is still very dangerous and so I used a variable polarizing filter to reduce light. The advantage of the Herschel wedge is the improved quality of the image. And you can see it comparing today’s images with yesterday’s ones. […]

I’ve found a used Vixen A80M refractor in very good conditions. It’s a 80/910. I also get two very well done Astrosolar masks. One for visual and the other for photography. I wanted to put it on test and here are the results. Not bad considering the seeing conditions. Now I have to “learn” how to do white light 😀 Hardware: Vixen A80M (Astrosolar) + DMK41

Tried something “new”… a picture in white light. I didn’t try it since a very long time. But I decided to give it a try. I used my very fist telescope (a Celestron Astromaster 130MQ) a 130/650 newton with an home made Astrosolar mask. I wanted to try a comparison between H-Alpha and white light. The resulting image is nice. I have to came back to do something in white light. Probably using something better that the old newton. I […]
