After a long period here’s a full disk in CaK for today: It’s been made with the Celestron Omni 120 XLT with the Lunt B1200 CaK diagonal with the DMK41. The focal length was 1000mm for each of the 6 images used for the full disk mosaic.

Here’s the picture of AR11512 in CaK from a second quick late session. Seeing was just a little better. Focal length around 3500mm.

June 27, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

Today I decided to try to take some picture in CaK and white light. The weather is good but the seeing is not. I had problems focusing due to the wind and to the cold coming up from the roof. Here’s a 1/4 disk in CaK (the area with the 3 new ARs): I used the Celestron Omni 120/1000 with a focal length of 2250mm. Lunt B1200 CaK diagonal and DMK41 mono camera.

And here’s he CaK one. Same setup but using the Lunt B1200 CaK diagonal instead of the Herchel wedge.

Today I decide to do the “usual” full disk and a first mosaic (using the barlow x2.25) as well. Both the images has been recorded using the 90/600 triplet.

June 14, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

Yesterday I showed you the triplet (90/600) 2 image mosaic for the full disk. Today I had the time to elaborate the larger 6 image mosaic full disk made with the Vixen A80M (80/900). Here’s the picture: Well the quality is naturally better that the one taken yesterday as we are using a much higher resolution. Consider that the 2 images mosaic is 1300×1300 pixel (borders include) while the 6 images is 2000×2000 pixels wide (borders included). About 2.5 times […]

2012_06_13_Triplet_Test

June 13, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

I got a new refractor to test. A 90/600 triplet. It is a very solid but compact refractor that in my intention should be used an all-round telescope. I tested immediately with white light and Cak full disks. Here are the results: Thanks to the lower focal length it only takes me two images to have a full disk. I also tried a closeup using the barlow 2.25 (always both in CaK and white light): And finally I tried with […]

Full Disk image for today: Seeing wasn’t that good. Better than yesterday but there was a strong wind and the sky wasn’t clear for all the humidity coming from recent showers.

Here’s my full disk for today. I made it even if definetly the weather situation wasn’t at best. Clowdy and windy. The image quality is not the best mainly for this reason. But after 2 days without taking any image I wanted to do something.

Here’s the almost daily full disk in CaK. Usual setup. I have 7 full disk now and I’m thinking about making an animation with them. P.S. I’m waiting for a 90/600 triplet to arrive and test! Should arrive in a few hours and I’m very excited about that. Really curious about  the performance difference with the acros that I used so far.

Here’s my almost daily full disk in CaK: I also made a closeup of the huge set of ARs always in CaK (the same one I recorded in HA yesterday). Seeing wasn’t really good for using a barlow and most of all there was some wind to make things even more difficult. Here’s the result: Setup is always the same: Vixen A80M + Lunt B1200 CaK + DMK41… for now! 😀

Today quick session in CaK only. I made a full disk (6 images at regular focal length) and 3 AR closeups (with a x2.25 barlow). Here are the pictures: The setup is made out of a Vixen A80M + Lunt B1200 CaK diagonal. Everything recorded with a DMK41. No HA today… maybe tomorrow.

June 1, 2012 by Andrea IU4APC

The seeing was much better in the afternoon and so I decide to have a second session dedicated to CaK. I tried it with the Skywatcher 102/500 and the Vixen A80M (80/900) as yesterday. I found out that the Skywatcher can’t be used for CaK due to the chromatic aberration that is really strong making the disk borders appear doubled. The Vixen A80M instead, thanks to the much better optics and to the almost double focal length doesn’t have such […]
